ABOUT US
In 1968, the Stamford Community Church emerged from the union of two congregations—American Baptist and United Methodist of Stamford VT. Today, we've evolved into a thriving non-denominational community church, with its members embracing a personal relationship with God and thriving as a community of believers rather than aligning with any specific denomination.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
Our core belief centers around the Bible, revered as the uniquely inspired Word of God and the ultimate authority guiding us in matters of faith and life. We're deeply rooted in the history of the Christian faith as unfolded in its pages and lived out by the apostles. We hold to the idea of one God, manifesting as three co-eternal, co-equal persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This divine Trinity is the creative force behind all things. The Son, commissioned by the Father, descended to Earth to redeem humanity. Enter Jesus Christ—conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary. We celebrate His Deity, His blameless life, His sacrificial death on the cross, triumphant resurrection, ascension, and ongoing intercession on our behalf. We commemorate His sacrifice through the observance of the Lord’s Supper regularly, as commanded. For us, Jesus Christ is the exclusive path to Eternal Life. Through turning away from our sins and accepting Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior, we encounter complete forgiveness and a spiritual rebirth. The indwelling Holy Spirit then guides our ongoing sanctification and growth in faith providing the follower with unwavering assurance of Eternal Life. We hold a belief in the unity of the Church as the global Body of Christ, with members scattered across the world. Locally, we gather in His name, offering worship, praise, and service. Believers express their connection with the Lord, His death, and resurrection through the sacrament of Baptism.
OUR MISSION
As devoted servants and followers of Jesus Christ, our mission is to live lives that reflect His values, bringing honor and glory to His name. We strive to foster encouragement in our Christian journey, remembering each other in prayer, and offering non-judgmental aid in times of need, recognizing our shared identity as children of God. Our mission extends locally and globally—we're passionate about spreading the Gospel through both our contributions and personal testimonies. We are committed to equipping our children with the teachings of the Lord and demonstrating the transformative power of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
OUR PRACTICE
Our vibrant community regularly gathers for Bible teaching, fellowship, worship, shared meals, prayer, and uplifting praise. We seek to live lives that are a constant praise offering to a Holy God We believe that whether at SCC, or in your car, work cubicle, lounging on the couch or counting sheep at night, God is incredible and is worthy of praise at all times. We love our children and are devoted to nurturing them in the ways of the Lord.  Encouraging them to make a decision for Christ and enabling them to live for Jesus. Our commitment goes beyond words—we invest our time, talents, and resources raising up leaders and ministers of the Gospel, instilling a deep love and respect for the Gospel. We are blessed with the best news ever offered to humanity (the truth).  It is a gift from God and He call believers to share that news with those around us… His love is pure, and we are surrounded by people in need of it!
